Pleyel Pianos
The piano firm
Pleyel et Cie was founded by Ignace Pleyel and continued by Pleyel's son Camille (1788–1855), a piano virtuoso and famious composer who became his father's business partner as of 1815. The firm provided pianos used by
Frédéric Chopin, and also ran a concert hall, the
Salle Pleyel, in which Chopin performed his Paris concerts. Pleyel performed most of his concerts on Pleyel grands and indorsed the pianos diring his career, signing some at the time of their sale. During the first part of the 19th century, the finest pianos in the world were being made by Pleyel and Erard of France. Liszt championed Erard and Chopin Pleyel. In the 20th century Erard was bought by Pleyel and the great advances of Pleyel, Erard, and many other companies were incorporated into Pleyel pianos.
Pleyel pianos are still made in France, currently in a modern Paris factory. These pianos are made with modern piano designs which are carely designed and crafted to create the traditional and very beautiful Pleyel sound. And with the modern designs they have much improved sustain and evenness of tone across the entire range of the piano. Musicians which play these modern grand pianos are captivated by the beautiful sound which seems so perfect for Romantic music. Pleyel pianos are rarely seen in the US as they have almost no dealers here. However for an artist which wants a truly unique and wonderful treasure of a piano in their home, these deserve a careful consideration. Currently we have one grand in stock but can order other pianos from France. Our grand piano is most beautiful with a wonderful deluxe mahogony inlaid case.
