North Texan Wins $12,000 Grand Piano

Grand Piano Winner

"I wasn't going to enter but what could I lose? Nothing! This prize will last and create many wonderful moments and memories."
Winner Robert McBroom

Encore Pianos, located just north of Dallas, announced its winner of a Nordiska grand piano valued at $12,000 on October 19. Robert McBroom of Denton, TX was randomly selected from among over 300 entries across the United States and Canada.

"This is by far the most wonderful prize I have ever won," said McBroom. The grand piano trumps prizes he's won in the past, namely, a phonograph record, a Thanksgiving turkey, and $35 in the Louisiana lottery. "This prize will last and create many wonderful moments and memories," added McBroom.

A music lover and organist, McBroom’s never owned a piano and entered the contest only after stumbling on it while browsing Dallas piano store websites. "I wasn’t going to enter but what could I loose? Nothing! I love playing the organ but you cannot play an electrical organ during a power outage!" joked McBroom, who enjoys playing hymns and easy listening music.

Encore Pianos presented the grand piano to McBroom in its Plano, TX showroom on Saturday, October 24. "We’re thrilled about this," said Ivan Kahn, Store Manager at Encore Pianos. "We have never given a piano away before in a contest." Kahn has been helping people select pianos for over 30 years and has visited most of the world’s fine piano factories.

Store owner Jordan Gary added, "Our store wants to be the leader in helping the piano community of the central US. This grand piano give away is just one of many ways that we are promoting the community that enjoys and appreciates piano music and concerts." Encore Pianos has fully serviced the Nordiska grand piano and will deliver it to McBroom free of charge.
